Article I: Name
and Purpose
- Section 1 : Name
The name of this
organization is International Students Association (ISA).
- Section 2 : Purpose
The purposes
of this organization are:
- Unite international students
- Assist new international students to adjust to life
in the US and on the MSOE campus
- Form study groups
- Organize cultural events and outing.
Article II : Membership
- Section 1 : Qualifications for membership
- All Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) students,
international or any interested, are eligible to become a
member of the Organization.
- Consistent with all the applicable federal and state
laws and MSOE policies, this organization and its
subordinate bodies and officers shall not discriminate on
the basis of race, gender, religion, culture or sexual
orientation.
- Section 2 : Responsibilities of Members
- Members should bring suggestions and inputs to all
meetings and events.
- Members should be active in planning and organizing
events.
- Members should participate in on and off campus
leadership opportunities.
- Members should attend meetings and events sponsored by
the organization.
- Members should pay per event (if applicable)
Article III: Officers
- Section 1 : Officers of the Organization
- President: He/She shall
chair all the meetings and shall take responsibility
of the Organization.
- Vice President: He/She shall assist the
president and chair meetings in his/her absence.
- Secretary: He/She shall take down the minutes
of each meeting and chair the meeting in the absence of both
the President and the Vice President.
- Treasurer: He/She shall be responsible for all
the financial matters pertaining to the Organization
- Organizers (Two members): They shall help in
organizing events and are a part of the committee.
- Section 2 : Election of Officers:
- There shall be an annual election of the Officers during
the fall term.
- The elections shall be held by voting (balloting or show
of hands) by 2/3 of the majority.
- For the elections to be held, 75% of the members or
equal in number of members must be present.
- In the event of the President not doing his/her job
well, a vote of no confidence may be passed against him.
- The Vice President shall become the acting President for
the rest of the office term, if for any reason, the
President leaves office.
Article IV: Meetings
- Section 1 : Voting and Decision Making Process
- Voting 2/3 majorities will do the decision-making.
- Freshmen and new members are eligible to vote with no
restrictions.
- Sophomores, juniors and seniors, who have previously
registered, are eligible to vote if they attended at least
three meetings in the previous academic year.
- Section 2 : Frequency of meetings
- The Organization shall conduct all meetings at the
Milwaukee School of Engineering every week on Monday @ 1.00
pm in CC-45. The Board members shall meet as and when
required.
Article V: Amendments
- Any member may submit
amendments.
- A notice and a copy of
any proposed amendment shall be distributed to all the members
at least 2 meetings prior to the meeting at which the amendment
is to be considered.
- These articles may be
amended by a vote of 2/3 majorities of the members present at a
regular meeting or at a special meeting called for that purpose.
- The members shall be
notified of adopted constitutional amendments by the most
feasible means.
