About Us

The International Students Association (ISA), consisting of both international and American students, is a student organization dedicated to uniting both American and International students by, assisting International students adjust to life in the United States both on and off campus, organizing cultural events and outings, and assisting each other with language barriers.

Diversity

MSOE has students coming from all over the globe. There are students from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and South, Central, and North America. The ISA tries to bring all of these students and American students together as to make each student aware of the other’s culture. The diversity of students helps in organizing various multi-cultural events and creates an international atmosphere at MSOE.

Events

The ISA organizes a number of events and sends representative to participate in an array of events organized by other clubs on campus. Some of the events, which the ISA carried out in the 2002-2003 school year, were:

  • Welcome Party
  • Ice cream Social
  • Bowling
  • Ice Skating
  • Skiing
  • Salsa Dancing
  • Movie Night
  • Food Sales (atleast two)

Current Projects

Because the ISA is dedicated to making the transition into America as easy as possible for international students, we have recently began a project geared at helping international students financially.

We are trying to do this by forming a committee dedicated to creating a scholarship for international students.

We have also formed an International Admissions Committee that works with International Admissions to welcome new international students to MSOE.

The ISA also has an International Gazette Committee which helps for the production of the quarterly International Gazette.

Membership

Though many members of the ISA are non-American students, any student at MSOE can become a member of the ISA!

We encourage American students to become members as well, so that they too can attain knowledge about the different cultures around the world, and in return provide information regarding American culture to international students.
